Peking University Student Choir

Peking University Student Choir was derived from the chorus course offered by Peking University’s Department of Art in September, 1990. With more than 80 undergraduates and graduates from over 20 institutes and departments as its members, it has rehearsed and performed hundreds of choral songs, and has provided a diverse range of concerts with excellent performance annually. A CD named “On Wings of Song” was published to celebrate the centenary of Peking University in 1998.

The major prizes it acquired in the past ten years include:

  • the first prize in the “Songs of Ideals” competition for university students in Beijing in 1992 and 1994;
  • the first prize in the 43th Habanera and Polyphonia International Chorus Competition held in Torrevieja, Spain in August, 1997;
  • the first prize in the University Student Competition of Arts in 1999;
  • the first prize acquired both by the women choir and the solo, Miss Wang Yi in the 2001′ University Student Competition of Arts;
